The ASEAN MICE Standard includes separate specifications for Venues (Meeting Rooms), Exhibition Facilities and Event Venues. This particular Standard refers only to Event Venues in Laos.

Award of the MICE Event Venue Standard follows a 5-step process:
- Step 1: MICE Event Venues submit an application with supporting documents to the MICE National Assessment Committee
- Step 2: The MICE National Assessment Committee screen the applications to make sure they meet the pre-requisite criteria. Dates for an assessment and audit are made with the qualifying Event Venues
- Step 3: The MICE National Assessment Committee conducts an assessment/audit of the pre-qualifying properties. An Assessment Report is submitted to the Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism for approval
- Step4: Approved MICE Event Venues will be awarded certificates valid for 3 years
- Step 5: Unsuccessful MICE Event Venues can take corrective actions and reapply for a follow up audit and subsequent approval
